Michael J. Dudley
Mr. Dudley serves as Director of DCMA Stockton. He is responsible for managing over 280 civilian and military personnel and 10,300 contracts valued at $24B. The office includes two Streamlined Commands; DCMA’s Sacramento, and Seattle and includes over 1000 contractors located in Alaska, Washington, Oregon, Idaho, California, and Nevada. DCMA Stockton contractors produce or sustain national defense and space products such as aircraft, ship and satellite components, launch and combat vehicles, electronics, spare parts, and technical services. His assignment began June 2014.
Mr. Dudley began his career in 1981 at Savanna Army Depot, Illinois, as a U.S. Army Quality Assurance Specialist (Ammunition Surveillance) (QASAS) Intern. From 1983 to 1986, he served in a variety of locations performing inspections of ammo, missiles, and explosives operations.
In 1986, Mr. Dudley joined DCMA in San Bruno, California as a Specialized Safety Specialist. He was promoted to DCMA’s Western Region Headquarters (HQ), before rising in 1991 to serve at DCMA HQ directing DCMA’s worldwide Specialized Safety program, ensuring Department of Defense (DoD) contractor compliance with explosive, fire protection, and aircraft ground safety contract requirements.
In 1996, Mr. Dudley was selected as Deputy to the Commander of DCMA Americas, Ottawa, Canada, leading a diverse staff managing contractors in Canada, Greenland, Puerto Rico, Haiti, Mexico, and Central and South America. In 1998, Mr. Dudley was appointed Chief, Technical Assessment Group of DCMA Lockheed Martin Sunnyvale California. In 2000, Mr. Dudley was promoted to Deputy Commander of DCMA Baltimore managing 473 employees covering Maryland, Washington D.C., and Virginia; and 65,000 contracts worth $63 billion placed with 2,800 contractors producing a variety of goods and services for DoD, the military services, and NASA.
In 2003, Mr. Dudley joined the staff of the Assistant Secretary of the Army (Acquisition, Logistics, and Technology) as chair of the Army Contracting Study Working Group developing recommendations for reorganization of the Army’s contracting organizational structure for decision by the Secretary of the Army. In 2005, Mr. Dudley was assigned to the U.S. Army Research, Development, and Engineering Command as Director of the Global Technology Integration Directorate, leading nine International Technology Centers around the world in identifying key international technology for potential acquisition. In 2009, Mr. Dudley began as Director, Workforce Development, supporting the Deputy Assistant Secretary of the Army (Procurement) (DASA (P)) in reshaping of the DASA (P) staff and rebuilding the U.S. Army military and civilian contracting workforce.
In 2012, Mr. Dudley served as Deputy Director, Contract Support, Plans, and Operations, U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) Joint Theater Support Contracting Command (C-JTSCC). He was responsible for developing and executing key Command initiatives to provide effective theater contracting support for U.S. Forces – Afghanistan.
Mr. Dudley has a Master of Arts degree from U.S. Naval War College and a Bachelor of Arts from University of Virginia. He is certified Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act (DAWIA) Level III in Production, Quality, and Manufacturing; Level III in Program Management; and Level II in Contracting. Mr. Dudley is a graduate of the Defense Leadership and Management Program, the DoD Executive Leadership Development Program, Senior Executive Leadership Course; and the U.S. Army Defense Ammunition Center and School.
Mr. Dudley is the recipient of numerous performance awards including the Office of the Secretary of Defense Award for Excellence, the Joint Civilian Service Commendation Award in 2014 and 2013, the U.S. Army Superior Civilian Service Award in 2009, 2007 and 2004; the DCMA Exceptional Civilian Service Award, a Quality Step Increase, numerous Special Acts, and Letters of Appreciation.
